The media world is evolving fast, and voices from Africa and the wider Global South are more important than ever. CNN Academy is stepping in to amplify those voices — providing skills, mentorship, and a global platform to make a real impact.
🔍 What’s the Program About?
This is a two-phase experience designed for future changemakers in journalism:
📚 Phase One – Online Training (July to October 2025)
- Learn journalism and storytelling basics through CNN’s e-learning hub
- Participate in interactive assignments
- Earn digital badges for progress
- Pitch your story idea for the next phase
🌐 Phase Two – On-site Training in Abu Dhabi (November 2025)
- Selected participants travel to Abu Dhabi for hands-on newsroom simulations
- Get trained by CNN journalists and media experts
- Collaborate with other creatives on global stories, especially around health and development
✅ Who Can Apply?
Applicants must:
- Live and work in Africa, Asia, or Latin America (Global South)
- Be early-career journalists or digital storytellers
- Have a portfolio or work samples
- Be fluent in English (spoken and written)
- Be available to travel in November 2025
📝 How to Apply
- Fill out a short application form online
- Complete the online training courses and pitch a story
- If selected, attend the bootcamp in Abu Dhabi
- After the bootcamp, create your final story by January 2026 — it could be published by CNN!
